Learn
the Language of Astrology
Astrology
is an excellent tool for use by anyone who wants to gain insight
into their own character, talents, personal challenges, and energies
surrounding activities today. Fundamentals of Astrology
is for people who want to learn more about themselves … about their
own charts in a fun and straightforward way. This
6-part class covers the planets, signs, houses, aspects (relationships
between planets), and planetary patterns and configurations.
It combines traditional class material, with more intuitive,
experiential methods. Once
taken, students will be able to attend any astrological lecture
or workshop and understand the language being spoken.
Tuition
includes a syllabus, 3 2-hour audio cassette tapes, the workbook,
Fundamentals of Astrology,
creation of the student’s birth chart (using the date, time and
location of birth), and phone consultation time with your mentor.
Q:
“In what way should astrology be used to help man live better in
the present physical plane?
A:
“In that which the position of the planets give the tendencies in
a given life, without reference to the will. Then
let man, the individual, understand how will
may overcome, for we all must overcome, if we would, in any wise,
enter in.”
-- Edgar Cayce,
#3744-4
We
are all born with an astrological thumbprint.
This
thumbprint is the same whether we are 5 or 95, and reflects certain
tendencies and probabilities in our character, spiritual development,
and in the activities of our day-to-day lives. With
knowledge of ourselves as seen through the astrological birth chart,
we can utilize our Will most effectively to transcend or transform
those parts of ourselves we find particularly challenging and consciously
capitalize on those parts of ourselves that further support our
development.
Studying
astrology, though, can be a very intimidating and left-brained experience. Astrology
like any other "language" requires memorization, and usually
involves an instructor standing in front of a class lecturing.
This
class is different.
In
addition to traditional “lessons”, the class utilizes your own natural
intuitive capabilities to deepen your understanding of the material.
To
succeed in this class, it is only important that you are willing
and open to learn more about yourself and perhaps those closest
to you.
Geared toward those
with little or no astrological knowledge, this series of classes
is designed to provide a firm foundation of basic astrological information.
If you do have
some knowledge, it is a good class to take for a comprehensive review,
or if you want to fill in any remaining gaps of knowledge on the
fundamentals.
As your mentor,
I will work with you to answer any questions and provide feedback.
It
is intended that your birth chart be used as an example chart over
the course of the class. So,
remember to provide your birth date, time and location when registering.
Extra
materials costs are Alan Oken’s book, Complete Astrology, and
the telephone bills for the calls to the mentor.

Many
Pieces, One Integrated Whole
You
know what the signs represent, and the planets and houses.
You
know the keyword descriptors for aspects and even what an aspect
pattern might represent overall.
But, how do you
pull together the information you know, interpret it, and make it
truly meaningful?
This
class discusses and practices, using student and other example charts,
different Interpretive Techniques. By
experimenting, we will discover the technique and style most comfortable
to you, and discuss the accurate, artful and ethical communication
of the horoscope. In
the process, we will rely on your previous astrological knowledge
and your intuition, and learn how to organize planetary details,
recognize planetary patterns, and weave one integrated story.
Tuition
includes a syllabus, 3 2-hour audio cassette tapes, the workbook,
Astrology: Interpretive
Techniques, creation of the student’s birth chart (using the date,
time and location of birth), and phone consultation time with your
mentor.
“The
inclinations of man are ruled by the planets under which he is born,
for the destiny of man lies within the sphere or scope of the planets.”

Now
that you know the language of astrology, it is time to apply that
language in a meaningful way so that you can grow from that knowledge.
This class covers
a review of basic astrological concepts; a look at the big picture
as well as how to organize the details; how I read a chart; storytelling
as part of the astrologer’s craft; how other astrologers read charts;
ethics; and, a discussion of astrology & your shadow … overcoming
fear and negativity. The
class culminates in a one-hour “reading” of a birth chart.
At
first, the amount of information in a birth chart can be overwhelming. It
is very difficult to see the forest for the trees. As
your mentor, I will step you through the process of organizing information
and preparing for a reading of a birth chart.
During
this process, you will discover how your intuitive abilities are
enhanced through the study of astrology, and how the most important
elements of a chart will simply “pop” out at you!
The
class combines traditional teaching techniques with experiential
methods. As
your mentor, I will work with you to answer any questions and provide
feedback. It
is intended that your birth chart be used as an example chart over
the course of the class.
So, remember to
provide your birth date, time and location when registering.
Students
need to have taken the Fundamentals
class,
or its equivalent in self-study or other classes.
Extra
materials costs are Alan Oken’s book, Complete Astrology, and the
telephone bills for the calls to the mentor. Recommended, though,
optional are the following texts: Alan Oken’s Rulers of the Horoscope,
Dr. Marc Edmund Jones’ Guide to Horoscope Interpretation, Alan Leo’s
The Art of Synthesis, Tracy Marks’ The Art of Chart Interpretation
and Stephen Arroyo’s Chart Interpretation Handbook. Suggested over
the course of the class: that you receive a reading from a professional
astrologer (other than your mentor).

Looking
Today at Tomorrow
Astrology
is a study of tendencies and probabilities.
Knowing
that there is free will and that there are many different levels
of interpretation based on the individual’s own personal and spiritual
development, it is impossible to predict with 100% accuracy when
or if an event will occur.
Astrology, though,
can provide perspective and insight, and help make you more consciously
aware of the energies at work in your life today.
In that light and
in this class, we will learn how to apply different Predictive Techniques
to our charts and the charts of close relatives and friends, and
then interpret what we find.
We
will also look at the timing of specific events. The
techniques covered will include looking at current, transiting (moving)
planets, progressions (including solar arc theory), and the solar
return (the birthday chart).
Tuition
includes a syllabus, 3 2-hour audio cassette tapes, the workbook,
Astrology: Predictive
Techniques, creation of the student’s birth chart (using the date,
time and location of birth) and other dependent charts, and phone
consultation time with your mentor.
“Know
these are influences, but thy will,
thy purpose is the deciding factor. Mere
influences cannot or do not
cause thee to do this, save that they are
a part of thee.”
-- Edgar Cayce

As
we found in the Fundamentals class, your birth chart is your birth
chart whether you are 5 or 95. But,
different sides of your personality will emerge and be more open
for development at certain times in your life than at others.
From
an astrological perspective, this is determined by the position
of the planets today in relationship to the position of the planets
when you were born ... so-called “transits”. Transits
tend to emphasize those aspects of our lives that are prime for
development, and areas of our lives where we are experiencing the
most challenge, benefit and change. Other
devices (progressions and solar returns) also reflect the energetic
environment of the individual, and provide an additional layer of
interpretation and understanding.
The
class combines traditional teaching techniques with experiential
methods. As
your mentor, I will work with you to answer any questions and provide
feedback. It
is intended that your birth chart be used as an example chart over
the course of the class.
So, remember to
provide your birth date, time and location when registering.
Students
need to have taken the Fundamentals
class,
or its equivalent in self-study or other classes.
Extra
materials costs are Alan Oken’s book, Complete Astrology, Neil F. Michelsen's The American Ephemeris for the 20th (and 21st) Century, Robert Hand’s Planets in Transit, and Mary Shea’s Planets
in Solar Return, as well as the telephone bills for the calls to
the mentor. Recommended,
though, optional texts are: Alan Leo’s The Progressed Horoscope,
Robert Blaschke’s Progressions, and Noel Tyl’s Solar Arcs and
Prediction in Astrology.
